The Student Nurse is presently in thefinal semesterof an ADN or BSN program. Flexibility in scheduling to meet the twenty-four (24) hour needs of the patient is required. Able to utilize effective communication in-patient, staff, physician, interdepartmental relationships. Able to maintain stable performance levels under condition of pressure and multiple demands. Able to organize work and activities and communicate effectively in the fast paced environment of health care. Maintain current Health Care Provider Basic Life Support Card. Meet all unit/department specific competencies within specific time frame. Comply with All Saint's Nurse Technician/Intern/Resident Policy. We are seeking students that have a desire to work on a Cardiac unit for this internship and as a Graduate Nurse. Description: The Nurse Intern is a patient caregiver who works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse preceptor. In partnership, they care for a patient assignment to provide and coordinate the nursing care of patients with major medical, surgical or behavioral health care problems. The Nurse Intern has both team member and patient care responsibilities that require judgement, accuntability, and follow through. Within these reponsibilities, accepting delegation, communicating effectively and confidentially, recording accurate information, demonstrating flexibility and maintaining a safe environment by completing other unit related services are critical to success in this position. Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse preceptor, the Nurse Intern also coordinates the work of the healthcare team caring for patients. The the focus of the Nurse Intern is the development of direct and indirect patient care skills, socialization of to the profession of nursing, and team building skills. The Nurse intern accepts only patient care tasks for which he/she is competent to perform. The Nurse intern provides care in accordance with All Saints policies and procedures and General Standards of Care. Care is provided that is sensitive to the unique needs of the ages served by the unit/department. This position will work one 8-hour shift each week, flexible around your school schedule.
